Improve your English language proficiency for travel and study in Australia or to communicate with English speakers around the world.
This course develops your grammar, speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. You can start at any level from Beginner to Advanced and finish at any exit point that suits your individual needs.
Successful completion at Advanced level will enable direct entry to TAFE NSW courses with an entry requirement of IELTS 6.0 (with no individual band less than 5.5).
The tuition fee is payable in advance. Your letter of offer from TAFE NSW will explain payment details.

TAFE NSW will help you meet the English entry requirements of your chosen Vocational or Higher Education course.
- Studying English with TAFE NSW offers you guaranteed entry into any of TAFE NSW’s courses offered to international students. This includes 150 vocational qualifications (Certificates to Advanced Diplomas)* and 10 Bachelor Degrees
- TAFE NSW English for Academic Purposes is accepted by several Australian higher education providers, including Western Sydney University and Central Queensland University, as meeting the English entry requirements for degrees on offer.
*except for Diploma of Nursing, which requires an IELTS or OET test

This course will improve your English language proficiency and academic strategies for successful participation in academic and Higher Education courses in Australia.
The course has flexible exit points so you can leave when you have achieved the level of proficiency required for your next course of study.
The entry requirement for this course is IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. Students who have successfully attained Upper Intermediate level (CEFR B2) at a TAFE NSW English Language Centre are admitted into the English for Academic Purposes program.
Successful completion of English For Academic Purposes course will enable direct entry to TAFE NSW courses with an entry requirement of IELTS 6.5 (with no individual band less than 6.0).
