OVERVIEW

When you study the Bachelor of Applied Commerce majoring in Accounting, you'll build the practical skills, confidence and connections to thrive in your accounting career. Whether you’re interested in becoming an accountant, tax agent, business manager or financial analyst, this course provides a pathway to a wide range of industries and experiences.

You’ll have the exciting opportunity to do a professional experience work placement during your course, which will give you practical experience in a workplace setting and help to establish valuable industry contacts.

You’ll learn in small classes and benefit from TAFE NSW’s industry connections. When you graduate, you’ll be eligible to apply for professional membership into the Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA) and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) program. You may also be eligible to register to the Tax Practitioners’ Board (TPB) as a tax agent

Professional Experience Work Placement

  • Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace. Work placement is a valuable part of your course.
  • During your course, you'll undertake 60 hours of mandatory work placement.
  • TAFE NSW will arrange your work placement with a suitable industry employer.

English Language Requirements:

  • Academic IELTS 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.0 or equivalent


Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants who meet the Academic and English entry requirements will be invited to a pre-entry interview to discuss their career plans and suitability for entry into the course. The interview process will also include a short literacy and numeracy assessment.

Additional costs for uniforms, equipment, textbooks and materials (if applicable) range from A$300 - $1,000 per course.

STUDY PATHWAYS

Graduates of the Diploma of Applied Commerce (HE20515) will be entitled to credit for eight subjects in the Bachelor of Applied Commerce - Accounting Major and will be able to complete the degree in 2 years.

Students who have completed the first year of the Bachelor of Business (HE20514) will be entitled to credit for four subjects in the Bachelor of Applied Commerce.

STUDY PACKAGES

Plan your study around your life with a TAFE NSW study package. Our study packages allow for multiple courses to be packaged together that can lead you to a TAFE NSW or an Australian University Bachelor Degree with credits. This gives you a one stop shop by completing your applications for the whole package through TAFE NSW allowing you to apply for one student Visa for the full duration of the package.

TAFE NSW allows for two or more courses to be packaged together leading to a TAFE NSW Bachelor Degree, either to meet the prerequisite requirements for a course or to plan your studies around your career goals. You can submit a single TAFE NSW application form and will be able to apply for one Student Visa for the full duration of the package.
