
This course introduces the key processes and technologies used in modern manufacturing environments. Explore how manufacturers make products using a range of manufacturing methods, materials and production technologies. You’ll examine both traditional and advanced manufacturing processes. This includes subtractive, additive, forming and casting methods.
You’ll also explore emerging technologies shaping modern manufacturing and the role of quality control in production environments. Learn through a mix of theory, demonstrations and practical activities. You’ll finish this course with foundational knowledge of how manufacturing systems operate. You’ll learn how industry chooses and uses different processes.
Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
explain the basic ideas of modern manufacturing
recognise different types of manufacturing processes
understand why different materials are used and what they can do
explore new technologies and trends in manufacturing
use what you learn in practical manufacturing tasks and case studies.

a Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation or its equivalent
a completed certificate IV or higher vocational qualification
completion of at least one-year full-time study or equivalent in a degree
course at a higher education institution.

basic technical reasoning and problem-solving skills
access to a computer and the internet to support blended learning.
You do not require an ATAR score for entry into this course.
If you are unable to meet the entry requirements, you may be eligible for special admission.
