    With a wine tasting in every class, you’ll explore wines from around the world and gain confidence pairing them with food. Whether you’re a wine enthusiast or starting a career in the industry, you’ll learn to store, serve and sip like a pro.

    Learning outcomes

    During this course you'll learn to:

    • Taste wine like a professional and describe what you see, smell and taste using the WSET® Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT)

    • Read wine labels and understand what they tell you about where the wine is from and what it will taste like

    • Understand how weather, growing conditions and winemaking choices, affect the style and quality of wine

    • Pair food and wine to improve flavour and enjoyment

    • Store and serve wine properly

    • Make confident wine recommendations in hospitality or retail settings

    • Know the 8 important grape types and what makes each one unique

    • Recognise the style and quality of wine made from 22 grape types grown in more than 70 wine regions world-wide.

    You'll leave this course with:

    • A Certificate of Attendance

    • A digital certificate that’s recognised internationally by industry professionals, and can be shared online or printed

    • Experience in selecting wine from a wine list, and pairing it to food

    • Exposure to 30 grape varieties and 70 wine regions

    • Ability to describe wine using the WSET® Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)

    Some courses require evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

    • You must be over 18 years to attend a course at the Sydney Wine Academy as evidenced by a copy of your photo ID.

    • Successful completion of the TAFE Statement in WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines, as evidenced by a copy of your transcript of certificate
