Classes will be a mixture of class based and online delivery and attendance at a TAFE campus may be required to complete skills assessments.
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Skills assessment: role play scenarios, presentation, practical, observation (including assessments in the workplace)
Knowledge assessment: multiple choice, true or false, short answer questions
Case study: case study scenario, reflection
Portfolio: samples of work in a workplace environment
Project: report, research based project, journal, activities
Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to complete 80 hours of compulsory work placement. This will be negotiated with the course coordinator.
Despite this enrolment being blended & self-directed, there is an expectation that you are able to participate in skills-based interactions with your teachers that will run in Bathurst on the listed dates or alternative arrangements are made.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Mental Health qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 units of competency, including 11 core and 4 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
Located on Panorama Avenue, TAFE NSW Bathurst has a wide range of practical courses available that are aimed at training and placing students into suitable positions in the local workforce. Courses include bricklaying, children's services, communication, media, design, digital media, fitness, human resources management, refrigeration, air conditioning, hair, beauty and welfare courses. TAFE NSW Bathurst also offers library services, counselling, online study help, disability support, Aboriginal support, study pathways and career advice.
