Hunter TAFE Foundation Scholarships

The Hunter TAFE Foundation has established the Hunter TAFE Foundation Scholarships as a means of providing support and encouragement to TAFE NSW students who are in a situation of personal or financial hardship. There are eighteen (18) scholarships available to support students, valued at $500 each.

There are four award categories:

  1. Mature Age Student Encouragement Award (35 years or older)
  2. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Encouragement Award
  3. Kaiyu Mental Health Encouragement Award
  4. Student Encouragement Award (under 35 years)

Closing date: 5pm, Thursday 28 March 2024

Award categories and eligibility criteria (please select all that apply to you)

  • Mature Age Student Encouragement Award (35 years or older) – Applicant who is currently enrolled, or planning to enrol, in a course delivered by TAFE NSW in the Hunter or Central Coast regions, and who is over the age of 35 years as of 31 December 2024
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Encouragement Award - Applicant who is currently enrolled, or planning to enrol, in a course delivered by TAFE NSW in the Hunter or Central Coast regions, and who identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and demonstrates a desire to be involved in indigenous community activities, as well as a commitment to the community
  • Kaiyu Mental Health Encouragement Award - Applicant who is currently enrolled, or planning to enrol, in a course delivered by TAFE NSW in the Hunter or Central Coast regions, and who is living with a mental health disorder, or studying a mental health related qualification
  • Student Encouragement Award (under 35 years) - Applicant who is currently enrolled, or planning to enrol, in a course delivered by TAFE NSW in the Hunter or Central Coast regions, and who is under the age of 35 years as of 31 December 2024.

To be eligible for these awards, you must:

  • be able to demonstrate that financial and/or personal hardship is a barrier to their study and successful completion of their course, OR requires encouragement to successfully complete their course
  • be able to demonstrate commitment to the course of study and career goals
  • be a deserving student who would be an ideal ambassador for TAFE NSW and the Hunter TAFE Foundation
  • not be in receipt of another award or scholarship presented by the Hunter TAFE Foundation within the twelve (12) month period prior to the submission of the Hunter TAFE Foundation Scholarship.
