Relax, unwind and get creative in this short 8 week ceramics course. Learn about the art of clay and wheelforming as you explore the techniques behind making ceramic products and finish the course with the skills to start your own small business.
Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
Research and apply the properties of clay related to wheel forming
Establish techniques in wheelforming from basic forms to bowls and other vessels
Handle finished work and structures safely, throughout the creative process
Apply ceramic design elements
Apply basic kiln firing principles
Gain practical experience and develop specialist skills that give you an advantage in the job market.

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
An interest in exploring the clay medium
Perseverance – wheelforming takes time to get the basics but is very rewarding as you build confidence through practice
The ability to pay for the clay used in your works (approximately $50) and to provide your own ceramics tools (approximately $20)
An awareness that this course may be potentially physically demanding on your back
