Non-apprenticeship

• Non-apprenticeship pathways for trade-related qualifications allow you to have your industry skills assessed through recognition of prior learning (RPL) and undertake gap training to gain a trade qualification. To take this course as a non-apprenticeship, you must:

• Be at least 21 years of age, as evidenced by photo identification

• Have at least 2 years of work experience in this occupation or trade, as evidenced by employee records such as your resume and/or letters from your employers

• Be currently employed in the relevant industry, as evidenced by a letter from your employer

• TAFE NSW also offers the Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing as a traineeship. To be eligible to enrol as a trainee you must:

• TAFE NSW requires you to have achieved the Year 12 Higher School Certificate (or equivalent) in your state or territory, as evidenced by a copy of your certificate, or

• Successful completion of the Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying

• Students may also be accepted if they are of mature age and possess sufficient literacy, numeracy, visual and computer skills to successfully complete the course. (LLN evaluation may be required for mature age student)

• That you hold a valid general construction induction card (commonly known as a white card)

• Before your first day of class you must complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test and achieve a score of 4 across the five bands of literacy and 4 across one band of numeracy. This helps us to determine that your skills match the demands of the course, to direct you to an alternative study option or to provide you with the appropriate support for your success. Your teacher will let you know when this must be completed.
