The Diploma of Sustainable Practice is a fully online course aimed at people who work or are planning to work in roles which incorporate sustainability into the core business of their organisation. The course responds to the demand for people with broad knowledge and skills in sustainability practice, and the trend for businesses to be able to participate in the sustainable economy.
Students complete eight subjects which cover the three key areas of knowledge essential for effective sustainability practitioners:
- sustainability in context
- sustainability systems and
- sustainability in action.
The course uses a project based learning approach which allows students to engage with sustainability scenarios relevant to their work environment.

For Semester 1 2022, the Diploma of Sustainable Practice, commences on Monday, 14 February, 2022.

Blended delivery course, students able to attend optional weekly online sessions (details provided on commencement). A non-compulsory 2-day residential school will be held at the National Environment Centre, Thurgoona, in March and August 2022.

The way you learn may change during your enrolment to ensure the best learning experience or to keep you safe as COVID-19 restrictions change, and some of our face to face classes may change to online or virtual classroom learning. Also, to ensure that we keep you safe while studying, we may modify our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, there may be a modification or delay in the planned timeframe due to COVID-19 impacts. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.
You will be required to attend 7 hours of classes each week for 12 weeks, followed by a 3 week exam and assessment period. A timetable will be distributed at the time of enrolment.
