Course Details

The nationally recognised Certificate IV in Kitchen and Bathroom Design will launch your career as a kitchen and bathroom designer. Use your eye for detail and creative flair for interiors to help renovate bathrooms and kitchens. This course will qualify you to work with leading companies or start your own business.


Through theoretical and practical course work learn to:

  • Plan kitchen and bathroom projects
  • Research and recommend materials for kitchens and bathrooms
  • Produce digital models for interior design projects

  • A general construction induction card (commonly known as a white card) you will need this before you can enter a construction site


To be prepared for this course, it is recommended that you have:

  • Completed year 10 of high school or equivalent
  • A genuine interest in design concepts and design materials
  • The ability to work as part of a team or independently
  • Great communication skills to consult with clients
  • The ability to understand design plans and specifications
  • Some experience with CAD drawing and manual drawing

This is a Part Time Day course. You will need to attend approximately 7.1 hours of class, 1 day a week, for 38 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 5.3 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 7 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study, research, assignment preparation.

This course is currently scheduled on Wednesday, from 9.00am to 3.30pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.


This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
