Traineeship
TAFE NSW also offers the Certificate IV in Civil Construction Design as a traineeship. To be eligible to enrol as a trainee you must:

  • Be employed in the construction industry as this course is delivered in the workplace
  • Have a signed traineeship contract

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

A white card (or general construction induction card) is required for workers who require access to construction sites. You do not need one for this course, but it may be needed for some employment options.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • The ability to be adaptable to change, whether that be in design or on the construction site
  • A willingness to work with new technology (Computer-Aided Design) or any new construction techniques
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others as part of a larger design and construction team
  • Familiarity with computer programs such as Word
  • A personal computer that is CAD capable (Computer-Aided Design program)
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 12 high school level

This skills test helps us to understand your individual study needs, to design an individualised plan that supports your study success
and ensures your LLN skills match the demands of the course.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part time, combination course. You must attend approximately 12 hours of class. You may also be required to complete approximately 3 hours of additional study. This additional study could include private study, work placements and research.

The course will run for 2 years.

This course is delivered via blended delivery i.e. a combination of workplace training and connected learning.

An individual training plan will be provided when you enrol in this course. Your plan will outline the recommended study timetable and detail your units and assessments.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
