Course Details

The nationally recognised Certificate IV in Floristry will prepare florists with the leadership know-how and complex technical skills to flourish in this creative industry. You will learn advanced floristry techniques, the latest floral trends and be in demand as a floristry designer, senior florist or floristry business owner.


Through a mix of theory and practical course work, learn to:

  • Design and construct complex bouquets, posies, headpieces and table arrangements
  • Maintain and order floristry stock
  • Coordinate work teams

To be eligible for this course, you need to demonstrate the following:

  • Successful completion of the Certificate III in Floristry or
  • Significant floristry industry experience


To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • Literacy and numeracy skills at Year 10 or equivalent
  • The ability to stand for a minimum of 3 hours and lift up to 5 kgs in weight
  • Fine motor skills to complete wiring practicals
  • Intermediate technology skills to research, complete assessments and navigate online learning

This is a part time, combination course. You must attend approximately 7 hours of class. You may also be required to complete approximately 8 hours of additional study. This additional study could include private study, work placements and research.

The course will run 1 days a week for 32 weeks.

Also, to ensure that we keep you safe while studying, we may modify our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, there may be a modification or delay in the planned timeframe due to COVID-19 impacts. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.

This course is currently scheduled on Thursday with day classes. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.


This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:

  • A tool kit as advised by your teacher at the orientation session.
  • All materials are provided for practical classes, any missed classes may incur an additional materials fee to complete.
