Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:
Work placement is not compulsory, however, it is highly recommended. Learners enrolled in this course are encouraged to complete a work placement with a host employer as part of their training program. Work placement is designed to enrich the learning, complement the formal training and enable an easier transition into the industry once the course is completed. Practical sessions can be completed as work placement with a host employer that has been approved by the teaching section. Learners not participating in a work placement with a host employer will be required to participate in scheduled clinic sessions at TAFE, providing services on paying clients. Learners may also need to provide clients for some of your practical classes and assessments.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate II in Salon Assistant qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 12 Units of competency, including 8 core and 4 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
