    • To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:

      • your age is 21 years or over
      • any Credit Transfers from relevant previous study or Recognition of Prior Learning from relevant workplace experience.
      • current employment in Hairdressing industry and/or complete required work placement during the course
      • local level entry requirements are identified at an ACFS level 3 for this qualification.
      • attend an orientation session and complete an interview. Learners are also required to complete LLN assessment (RUReady) as part of this enrolment. "
    • To successfully complete this course, you will need:

      • as part of this course, you will be required to provide hair services on paying clients and may also need to provide clients for some of your practical classes and assessments.
      • you must comply with Work Health & Safety requirements for classes, including wearing closed in protective footwear and clothing that is clean and professional for the industry.
    • Work Placement is a requirement of this course:

      • To meet the requirements of this course, learners should be employed in a hairdressing salon where they provide hair services on clients.
      • Work placement is designed to enrich the learning, compliment the formal training and enable an easier transition into the industry once the course is completed.
      • Learners will also be provided with access to clinic sessions at the TAFE campus Hairdressing facility, providing services on paying clients.
      • Learners will be required to complete 504 hours of workplace activities and/or clinic sessions.
      • Clinic sessions can be completed as work placement with a host employer that has been approved by the teaching section.

    UnitsUnits taught in this course

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Hairdressing qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 28 Units of competency, including 21 core and 7 speciality units.

    Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

    Course deliveryCombination study

    Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

    Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
