Are you an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student studying at TAFE NSW in Newcastle?

The City of Newcastle is partnering with Hunter TAFE Foundation to provide a scholarship to support your study. The City of Newcastle Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship, valued at $1,500 offers financial support to help you achieve your goals.

Applications for the City of Newcastle Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship close 5 pm (AEST), Friday 28 August 2026.

To apply for the City of Newcastle Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship, you must:

• identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and demonstrate community involvement (for example, through volunteer positions, community activities or advisory groups)
• be enrolled at TAFE NSW
• demonstrate you live or study within the Newcastle Local Government Area.
• explain how the scholarship funds will support your study and career goals
• demonstrate positive academic values to represent TAFE NSW and the Hunter TAFE Foundation, validated by a referee (such as a teacher, counsellor, Teacher Consultant, or community representative)
• not have received a scholarship from the Hunter TAFE Foundation in the 12 months prior to the closing date.
