    Are you an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student in Newcastle studying at TAFE NSW? The City of Newcastle Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarship, valued at $1,500, offers financial support to help you achieve your career goals. Delivered by Hunter TAFE Foundation, this scholarship is now open for Semester 1, 2025. New students are encouraged to apply.

    Applications for the City of Newcastle Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarship close at 5 pm (AEST) Friday 29 August 2025.

    Who can apply?

    To apply for a City of Newcastle Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarship, you must:

    • identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and demonstrate your community involvement. For example, through volunteer positions, community activities and advisory groups
    • be enrolled at TAFE NSW
    • reside or study within the Newcastle local government area or surrounding areas
    • explain how you will use the scholarship funds to support your study and career goals
    • be a good student and represent TAFE NSW and the Hunter TAFE Foundation well, as validated by a referee (teacher, counsellor, teacher consultant, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander yarning circle or community representative)
    • not have received a scholarship from the Hunter TAFE Foundation in the 12 months before the closing date.

    How to apply

    Download and complete the application form. Please ensure you sign the declaration and collect all relevant supporting documents.

    Finally, email a copy of your application form and supporting documents to hunter.foundation@tafensw.edu.au
