    Are you an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student studying at TAFE NSW in Newcastle?

    The City of Newcastle Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarship, valued at $1,500, offers financial support to help you achieve your career goals. Delivered by the Hunter TAFE Foundation, this scholarship will support new students starting in Semester 1, 2026.

    Who can apply?

    To apply for the City of Newcastle Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarship, you must:

    • identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and demonstrate community involvement (for example, through volunteer positions, community activities or advisory groups)
    • be enrolled at TAFE NSW
    • live or study within the Newcastle local government area or surrounding areas
    • explain how the scholarship funds will support your study and career goals
    • demonstrate positive academic values to represent TAFE NSW and the Hunter TAFE Foundation, validated by a referee (such as a teacher, counsellor, Teacher Consultant, or community representative)
    • not have received a scholarship from the Hunter TAFE Foundation in the 12 months prior to the closing date.
