Higher Education governance

The role of TAFE NSW Higher Education is to design and deliver education and programs that reflect the evolving needs of industry. We do this by providing students with industry-current and relevant skills.

    Governance committees

TAFE NSW has Governance committees in place to safeguard the academic integrity of TAFE NSW Higher Education programs.

They ensure TAFE NSW Higher Education:

    • achieves its objectives

    • builds market share

    • increases its perceived brand value.

A corporate and academic governance structure and guiding principles are applied to the delivery of TAFE NSW’s Higher Education programs.

    Supporting Higher Education

The Australian Government is committed to helping more people earn bachelor’s degrees, especially those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. TAFE NSW Higher Education supports this by using our strong reputation and expanding educational options.

    We aim to:

    • offer students from all communities the chance to gain higher education qualifications

    • teach skills and knowledge in industry-focused learning environments

    • encourage students to explore and develop a strong level of enquiry

    • expand the range of quality higher education programs that meet industry needs

    • provide more opportunities for staff to grow their academic capabilities.

    Student representative bodies

You can participate in student representative bodies like the Campus Reference Groups (CRG) at each TAFE NSW Higher Education campus. By joining the CRG you can give independent advice to campus leadership and the TAFE NSW Higher Education Academic Council.

Your feedback about the TAFE NSW student experience helps to support, improve and grow our courses.

    Governing bodies

    Higher Education Governing Body

The Higher Education Governing Body oversees the corporate governance of Higher Education. This structure ensures that our higher education courses are managed separately from our vocational education and training (VET) courses.

    It also includes the:

    • Senior Manager Higher Education Quality, TAFE NSW

    • senior managers

    • academics from both TAFE NSW and other higher education providers.
