    Battery Electric Vehicle Inspection and Servicing Skill Set

    OverviewAbout this course

    Gain the skills to work safely on battery electric vehicles (BEVs). With an emphasis on high-voltage (HV) rechargeable energy storage systems (RESS), you’ll acquire the knowledge required for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of BEVs.

    Learning outcomes

    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • Safely depower and reinitialise battery electric vehicles

    • Inspect and maintain battery electric vehicles

    • Diagnose and repair high voltage RESS

    • Diagnose and repair system instrumentation in safety interlocks

    • A nationally accredited Statement of Attainment

    • Credit towards the Certificate III in Automotive Electric Vehicle Technology and the Certificate IV in Automotive Electrical Technology

    Entry requirements

    This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

    • Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent

    • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent

    • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent

    • Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, or equivalent. (Graduates of the EWP stream must have completed AURETR129 Diagnose and repair charging systems and AURETR130 Diagnose and repair starting systems)

    • As evidenced by a copy of your transcript or certificate.

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • A reasonable level of fitness, including the ability to bend, sit in awkward positions, and lift a minimum of 10kg

    • Protective work wear — safety shoes, long work trousers and safety glasses

    • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level
