    Assessments

    Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

    • Knowledge assessments: multiple-choice questions, true or false, short answer

    • Skills assessments: role-play scenarios, presentations

    • Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation

    Work placement

    Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

    • There is no work placement requirement for this qualification. As an apprentice, you will gain your experience on-the-job with your employer.

    • If you're enrolling as a non-apprentice, you need to be in relevant employment in order to meet the course completion requirements.

    Materials needed

    To complete this course, the following materials are required:

    • Fully enclosed footwear with non-slip sole, long sleeve shirt and long pants suitable for practical activities. PPE footwear or clothing at an estimated cost of $200

    • Pens (Black or Blue) and paper to write on at an estimated cost of $5

    Additional entry requirements

    To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

    • To take this course as an apprenticeship you need to be employed as an apprentice in the industry as evidenced by a letter of support from your employer and

    • Submit your Training Plan Proposal (TPP) with your application

    • Be 17 years of age or older as evidenced by identification

    • Be able to speak, read and write English. If you have problems with reading and writing please contact us to see what help we can offer before the course starts

    • The ability to negotiate rough terrain and uneven ground in practical components of the course. Good levels of fitness including hip and knee mobility to be able to step over 60cm in height in a single step

    UnitsUnits taught in this course

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 20 units of competency, including 15 core and 5 speciality units.
