Knowledge tasks: online quizzes, multiple-choice questions, matching and true or false tasks.

Project assessments: research tasks, short answer questions, scenarios and personal reflections.

Workplace portfolio: practical skills demonstrations and reflective practice journals, observing and planning for children’s learning, workplace health and safety tasks.

Training logbook: 160 workplace hours log, workplace supervisor reports.

To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:

A minimum of 160 hours of work placement in a regulated Education and Care Service in Australia is required for this qualification. The work placement will be arranged by the TAFE NSW in partnership with the service and implemented within the student's program to enable consolidation, reflection, improvement and assessment to occur.

A student may already have access to a regulated Education and Care service through paid or voluntary employment. This can be assessed by TAFE NSW for suitability for the student to complete their placement.
A valid Working with Children Check will be required by the Education and Care Service. The Service and/or some locations may also have additional requirements such as vaccination and Police Checks. Students will be notified of specific requirements prior to placement. Please note: There are currently COVID 19 vaccination requirements for volunteers and employees in the Education and Care Sector. Work placement is an opportunity to learn on the job and complete assessment requirements and often leads to employment opportunities.

There are no materials needed for this qualification.

This part time day (18 month course) is 3 day per week program for 54 delivery weeks. This is generally across 6 school terms with term breaks. It would be best suited to a student who is able to commit to 3 days per week via Microsoft Teams virtual classroom study. This delivery can easily be coupled with work in the education and care sector, or other employment or commitments during the day.
