If you have little to no experience in shearing, then this intensive two-week course is the perfect step into the industry. Practise in a real farm environment with live sheep as you learn safe shearing techniques, the importance of animal welfare, and how to maintain your equipment.
Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
Grind combs and cutters for machine shearing
Complete basic shearing and crutching
Prepare handpiece and downtube for machine shearing
Gain practical experience and develop specialist skills that give you an advantage in the job market.
Gain experience in shearing live sheep and knowledge about animal welfare practices
A sound understanding of equipment maintenance and safe work practices
A strong pathway to continue your study and enhance your career opportunities
