    Assessments

    Assessments let you show what you've learned and check what you may need to work on.

    • A 2-day block attendance per term at TAFE NSW Kurri Kurri Campus Winery, over the 2-year duration of the qualification

    • Additional study time of 6 hours per week to complete assessment tasks

    • Knowledge assessments: short answer, extended response, research tasks

    • Skills assessments: projects

    • Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation

    • Simulated workplace projects: scenario-based problem solving

    • Submission of a logbook e.g. keeping a record of the relevant experience gained at your industry-specific workplace is crucial

    Work placement

    Work placement gives you real experience and develops your skills.

    • Work experience provides you with exposure to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Mandatory work placement is not required in this course, however we strongly recommend you undertake work experience with a suitable industry employer. You are responsible for arranging your own work placement. Our team can offer support and guidance to assist you.

    Materials needed

    To complete this course, the following materials are required:

    • Access to a computer with reliable internet, webcam and headset with microphone

    • Access to a commercial vineyard and associated winery or the ability to attend all practical assessment blocks held at Kurri Kurri Campus winery

    Units taught in this course

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Viticulture qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 10 units of competency, including 6 core and 4 speciality units.

    Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

    Course delivery

    Combination study

    Learn through a combination of on-campus classroom, virtual classroom, online, and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled face-to-face or virtual classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

    Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
