Assessments let you show what you've learned and check what you may need to work on.
Knowledge assessments: multiple choice questions, true and false questions and short answer questions
Skill assessment: projects, case studies
Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation both in simulation and in the workplace

Work placement gives you real experience and develops your skills.
During your course you will undertake a mandatory 350 hours of work placement with a suitable industry employer.
To ensure you have the practical skills and confidence to undertake this work placement, up to 50 hours of skills practice in a simulated environment can be counted towards work hours work placement.
Depending on your mode of study, TAFE NSW will arrange your work placement for you or support you to find one.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Dental Assisting qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 10 Units of competency, including 8 core and 2 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of on-campus classroom, virtual classroom, online, and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled face-to-face or virtual classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
