Work placement gives you real experience and develops your skills.
During your course, you will undertake a mandatory 80 hours of work placement in acute care.
TAFE NSW will arrange your work placement with a suitable industry employer.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification however, acceptance into the course will be dependent on BKSB results. Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of their first clinical placement.
To successfully complete this course, you will need to meet all theoretical, practical and workplace requirements.

Work Placement is a requirement of this course. You will need to complete 80 hours of supervised workplace experience in an acute care facility. 40 hours in acute or aged care for a total of 120 hours.
Before commencement of professional experience in NSW Health facility, students will be required to:
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in nursing work in acute care) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 Units of competency, including 15 core and 0 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of on-campus classroom, virtual classroom, online, and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled face-to-face or virtual classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
