Become a skilled 3D and visual effects artist or animator with the creative and technical skills to succeed in the industry. Gain experience in deadline-driven, simulated commercial settings. Work with others on creative projects and graduate with a strong showreel to launch your career. Learn the principles of art, animation and production. Prepare for roles in film, game design, TV, advertising and new fields like virtual and augmented reality. Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
blend your creativity with the latest technology to create impressive 3D art, design and animations
develop solutions that meet client briefs and follow the agreed production process
work with others across the production pipeline to deliver creative results that meet client needs
balance creativity with technical skills and ethical awareness to stay true to your artistic vision

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
A NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent
A Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation or its equivalent (an alternative to the HSC that prepares you for further study)
A completed certificate IV or higher vocational qualification
We may ask you to attend a pre-admission interview with a Higher Education Course Coordinator. You may also be asked to complete a short literacy and numeracy task. This helps us to understand how we can support your study success and provide you with any necessary support.
Your certificates, transcripts and other entry requirement evidence must be certified through a Justice of the Peace or other authorising officer
During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:
To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
a passion for film, design and drawing
an interest in using visual design software
good collaboration and communication skills
a commitment to staying up to date with new technologies
access to a PC or Mac that can run high-end 3D software like Maya, SideFX Houdini or Unreal. While equipment is available on campus, it’s strongly recommended you have your own.
You do not require an ATAR score for entry into this course.
If you are unable to meet the entry requirements, you may be eligible for special admission.
