Certificate III in Carpentry

• Read and interpret plans and specifications

• Carry out general demolition of minor building structures

• Install and replace windows and doors

• Install lining, panelling and moulding, and flooring systems

• Construct wall and ceiling frames, pitched roofs, eaves, and timber external stairs

• An understanding of how to work safely in construction

• Experience following instructions and completing carpentry tasks in a real workplace

• Collaborate in a team to solve key carpentry challenges

• The ability to communicate specifications and project updates to your managers, team and clients

• Experience prioritising tasks and managing your time on the job

• A carpentry trade qualification

• A strong pathway to continue your study and enhance your career opportunities

Apprenticeship

• Be employed as an apprentice in the industry

• Register with an Apprenticeship Connect Australia Provider (ACAP) who will support your application

Non-apprenticeship

• Non-apprenticeship pathways for trade-related qualifications allow you to have your industry skills assessed through recognition of prior learning (RPL) and undertake gap training to gain a trade qualification. To take this course as a non-apprenticeship, you must:

• Be at least 21 years of age, as evidenced by photo identification

• Have at least 2 years of work experience in this occupation or trade, as evidenced by employee records such as your resume and/or letters from your employers

• Be currently employed in the relevant industry, as evidenced by a letter from your employer

• A strong work ethic

• A good understanding of mathematics

• A desire to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments

• An interest in building and construction projects

• Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level

This skills test helps us to understand your individual study needs, to design an individualised plan that supports your study success and ensures your LLN skills match the demands of the course. • A valid form of ID to prove you are at least 18 years old as part of SafeWork NSW requirements to undertake the SafeWork NSW High Risk Work Licence assessment conducted via this course

• You must successfully pass both the TAFE NSW and SafeWork NSW High Risk Work Licence assessments to be eligible for your SafeWork NSW High Risk Work Licence. For more details, see the licensing section below.
