The nationally recognised Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice strengthens the skills you need to work as a real estate agent or property portfolio officer. You will develop marketing profiles, interpret legislation and prepare for professional practice in the dynamic real estate industry.

A Class 2 licence is required to conduct sales or property management in the real estate industry in NSW. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to apply for a Class 2 licence.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this qualification can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors.

The groups within CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice, contain units that are also packaged in Training Package Skill Sets and which align to various licensing requirements across Australia. The CPP Companion Volume Implementation Guide Release 8.0 provides a table that maps these skill sets to the groups in the qualification. Note that licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements vary between states and territories.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to participate in Microsoft Teams your device will require a microphone, web cam and if attending class in a shared space a media headset.

It is essential that learners studying this course have access to a device with reliable internet and have the technology skills to access and navigate the internet and be able to use word processing software; be a self-directed learner in the context of a supportive online learning environment and have sound language, literacy and numeracy skills.

You need to complete 18 units, 5 core units and 13 electives which have been pre-selected after consultation with industry to ascertain the skills and knowledge required for the job role.

The expectation is that by enrolling in this qualification you commit to the time frame in which the qualification is being delivered. The proposed study schedule will be discussed and an individual training plan will be established. Should you fall behind your agreed schedule you will be required to complete additional work and learning outside scheduled class time.

This is a part time evening, connected learning course. You will need to attend approximately 4 hours of class, over 2 evenings a week, for 40 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 7.5 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 4.5 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including independent study, research, preparation of assessment tasks, learning support and online learning.

Connected learning is when students learn with a teacher and other students via web conferencing technology as part of a virtual classroom.


This course is designed for people who want to acquire the skills needed to sell, market, lease and manage real estate/property within a property agency at the practice/operator/supervisory level.

This is a Connected Learning course. This means you will join your teacher and other students in a virtual classroom and will participate in learning activities via video or web conferencing technology. Depending on the course, you may be able to join the class from your local TAFE NSW campus, or from anywhere with a good internet connection, such as your home. Much like a regular class, you will have scheduled times of attendance. The specific attendance requirements for this course are below.

This course is currently scheduled on Monday and Thursday from 6.00pm to 8.00pm, delivered via Microsoft Teams. Participants attend offsite (eg home) using their own device.


This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
