INDUSTRY DEMAND
In recent years, the increase in floristry businesses and the power of social media has popularised floristry with a peek into the artistry of floral design and unique arrangements. This heightened interest and growth in new businesses is driving demand for florists with technical skills, knowledge in seasonal varieties and the creative flair to arrange stunning arrangements.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
TAFE NSW offers the Certificate III in Floristry as either a traineeship or non-traineeship, so you can design the career you want.
Non-traineeship
There are no entry requirements for non-trainees. You can enrol in this course now.
Traineeship
To be eligible for this course you must:
- Be employed in the floristry industry as this course is delivered in the workplace
- Have a signed traineeship contract

WORK PLACEMENT
There is no work placement requirement for trainees taking this qualification as you will gain your experience on-the-job with your employer.
Non-trainees will need to be in either relevant employment or have access to appropriate simulated workplace environments to complete the learning and assessment requirements.
You are responsible for arranging your own work placement. Our team can offer support and guidance to assist you.
IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?
To be prepared for this course, it is recommended that you:
- Have literacy and numeracy skills at a Year 10 high school level or higher
- Are able to stand for a minimum of 3 hours and lift up to 5 kgs in weight
- Have fine motor skills to complete wiring practicals

INFORMATION SESSIONS

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a part-time day, face to face delivery course. You will need to attend approximately 11 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 36 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 4 hours of other study per week.
You may also be required to complete approximately 20 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including assessment preparation (flower preparation for practical skills assessments), assessment preparation (knowledge assessments), Industry research and Moodle activities.
IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?
This course provides entry into Certificate IV in Floristry (conditions apply).
You will study with multi award winning Florists in state of the art training facilities. You will be taught by professional florists who are recognised by the Industry as leaders in their field. You will have the opportunity to enter prestigious competitions such as the Sydney Royal Easter Show and The Flowers Growers Group Scholarships.
This course offering is designed for people who:
- Existing workers. Pre Employment.
- have sound knowledge of construction techniques and floristry design elements and principles. Using discretion and judgement they work with some independence and under limited supervision, they provide technical advice and support to team members.

To keep you safe while studying, some of our face to face classes may be replaced with online or connected learning. We have also modified our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. As restrictions ease, the way you attend your class may change again. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, due to the impacts of COVID-19 there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.
This course is currently scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30am to 4:00pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

A fee applies for most TAFE NSW courses and must be paid when you enrol. The amount you pay depends on the type of course you study, and on your personal circumstances. An initial payment of $80 is required to confirm your enrolment into this course. If you do not wish to continue with your enrolment, you must formally advise Customer Service of your withdrawal.
