The nationally recognised Certificate IV in Floristry will prepare florists with the leadership know-how and complex technical skills to flourish in this creative industry. You will learn advanced floristry techniques, the latest floral trends and be in demand as a floristry designer, senior florist or floristry business owner.

INDUSTRY DEMAND
Demand for floristry services has grown in recent years, driven primarily by the wedding, funeral and corporate event markets, as well as household demand for locally grown, sustainable flowers. The industry is forecast to increase by around 4.0% in the five years to 2023-24, which is expected to increase demand for skilled floral designers.
When you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for this course, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- That you have achieved the Certificate III in Floristry
or - Have demonstrated significant floristry industry experience
Evidence required
- Transcript of your achievement of the Certificate III in Floristry
or - A resume, a portfolio with photographic evidence of your floristry design work or a letter from your employer stating your experience
IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?
To be prepared for this course, it is recommended that you:
- Have literacy and numeracy skills at Year 10 high school level or higher
- Are able to stand for a minimum of 3 hours and lift up to 5 kgs in weight
- Have fine motor skills to complete wiring practicals

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who have: achieved the Certificate III in Floristry via an Australian Apprenticeship Pathway; OR demonstrated floristry industry experience in applying the skills and knowledge in the Certificate III in Floristry. This is achieved via: providing a portfolio of evidence outlining how the skills and knowledge gained in the Certificate III in Floristry have been applied in an industry context; OR 12 months post qualification industry experience.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a part-time day, face to face delivery course. You will need to attend approximately 7 hours of class, over 1 day a week, for 36 weeks.
You may also be required to complete approximately 20 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including assessment preparation (flower preparation for practical skills assessments), Assessment preparation (knowledge assessments), Industry research and Moodle.
IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?
This qualification provides a pathway to work as a florist in a diversity of floristry industry business types including retail floristry shops, studios and online floristry businesses. You will study with multi award winning Florists in state of the art training facilities. You will be taught by professional florists who are recognised by the Industry as leaders in their field. You will have the opportunity to enter prestigious competitions such as the Sydney Royal Easter Show. This course provides entry into Diploma of Floristry Design (conditions apply). Existing workers. Individuals who have a sound knowledge of construction techniques and Floristry design elements and principles.

To keep you safe while studying, some of our face to face classes may be replaced with online or connected learning. We have also modified our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. As restrictions ease, the way you attend your class may change again. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, due to the impacts of COVID-19 there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.
This course is currently scheduled on Wednesday from 9:30am to 4:30pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

A fee applies for most TAFE NSW courses and must be paid when you enrol. The amount you pay depends on the type of course you study, and on your personal circumstances. An initial payment of $80 is required to confirm your enrolment into this course. If you do not wish to continue with your enrolment, you must formally advise Customer Service of your withdrawal.
