    Work placement

    Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

    • As an apprentice, you will gain your experience on-the-job with your employer.

    • If you are enrolling as a non-apprentice, you need to be in relevant employment or have access to appropriate simulated workplace environments in order to meet the course completion requirements.

    To complete this course, the following materials are required:

    • You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:

    • -To undertake this course students will need to purchase an equipment kit. Kits will be available through a supplier that can be refered to you by the college. This kits includes all the equipment you will need to undertake the course along with precribed mannequins. Students are free to source their own kits but will need to use the prescribed supplier from the college for the mannequins.

    • To successfully complete this course, you will need:

      • Demonstrate competency in all 28 units. This will require you to complete all live models requried within each of the 28 units to a compentent level, addressing all apects of the each assessment.
      • To compentently complete this course it is recommended you are working in a salon to practice and hone skills learnt at TAFE.

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Hairdressing qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 28 Units of competency, including 21 core and 7 speciality units.

    Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

    Course deliveryCombination study

    Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

    Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.

    Meadowbank

    One of the largest TAFE NSW locations in Sydney, TAFE NSW Meadowbank offers an extensive range of study areas including degrees in network security and finance. While it is home to one of only two Cisco Academy Training Centres in the Australasia Pacific region, TAFE NSW Meadowbank also features hair, beauty and massage clinics as well as a sports and fitness centre, all designed to give students access to real-world on-the-job training. Additionally, TAFE NSW and the NSW Department of Education are working together to create the Meadowbank Education Precinct, which will see students able to follow an educational pathway from kindergarten, right through to completing a bachelor degree or diploma at TAFE NSW.
