Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • There is no work placement requirement for this qualification. As a trainee, you will gain your experience on-the-job with your employer.

  • If you are enrolling as a non-trainee, you must complete at least 80 hours of work placement with a suitable industry employer to meet the course requirements.

  • You are responsible for arranging your own work placement. Our team can offer support and guidance to assist you.

  • To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you:

    • Are currently working in the Pharmacy Industry.
    • Have a qualification Certificate II or III in Community Pharmacy is recommended.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy Dispensary qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 14 Units of competency, including 9 core and 5 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

  • Provide and promote services to pharmacy customers SIRCCCS002

  • Assist customers with prescriptions SIRCDIS001

  • Assist in dispensing prescriptions SIRCDIS003

Course delivery Studying at your Workplace

You will get your training on the job, supervised by a workplace training officer or your employer. This training is undertaken at your place of employment. Work-based learning may also include completing work-based projects while under supervision. You may need to attend an on campus assessment and/or a teacher might need to observe and assess you in a real or simulated environment.
