    Gain the skills to test, diagnose, troubleshoot and repair automotive electrical systems. Practise on real vehicles and earn credit towards a Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology.

    Learning outcomes

    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • understand voltage, current and resistance, and learn how to use a multimeter properly

    • repair wiring harnesses to a professional standard

    • read wiring diagrams to help find and fix electrical problems

    • diagnose and fix faults in vehicle lights, indicators, electrical drive motors, locking systems and power windows

    • use the latest tools, including PICO scopes, thermal imaging and power probes to diagnose electrical issues.

    • basic automotive electrical knowledge gained through workplace experience as a mechanic or technician.
