    Completion requirements

    During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:

    • A current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) and/or RCG (Responsible Conduct of Gambling) competency card, if you're undertaking any of the units in this course that involve alcohol. RSA unit SITHFAB021 and RCG unit SITHGAM022 are exemptions.

    Note

    • The NSW Liquor and Gaming regulations require students to be 18 years of age or older if they are undertaking units that involve the service of alcohol and/or gaming operations.

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • An interest in moving into senior leadership and management roles

    • A passion for delivering quality customer service

    • An awareness of the additional costs incurred if obtaining your RSA and/or RCG competency card or your Food Authority NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

    • The ability to provide your own hospitality student uniform including enclosed shoes with non-slip soles. The uniform will vary between different TAFE NSW locations such as dress pants or knee length skirt and a long sleeve button up shirt

    • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 12 high school level

    • TAFE NSW may ask you to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test.

    • This skills test helps us to understand your individual study needs, to design an individualised plan that supports your study success and ensures your LLN skills match the demands of the course.

    Career pathways

    Our graduates go onto roles like: food and beverage manager, café owner or manager, area manager or operations manager, executive chef, head chef, executive housekeeper and motel owner or manager.

    Licensing

    This qualification includes electives with licensing requirements that are regulated by Liquor and Gaming NSW. TAFE NSW is approved by Liquor and Gaming NSW to deliver RSA, RCG, ARCG and Licensee/Advanced Licensee courses. Some of the electives in this course require you to hold an RSA and be 18 years old. RSA - Responsible Service of Alcohol RCG - Responsible Conduct of Gambling On successful completion of these electives, you will be issued with an interim RSA and RCG certificate on completion. The interim certificate licenses enable you to work in the industry immediately and are only valid for a short period while you apply for your permanent competency cards. You will need to present these certificates at Service NSW with 100 points of ID within three months to receive your RSA and RCG competency cards. It's important to note that you while you can undertake this unit to become job ready, you will not be able to serve or sell alcohol or providing gaming services until you are 18 years old. If you are 17 years old, we can tailor the course to your specific circumstances. Check with the relevant state or territory authority to see if your NSW RSA and RCG competency is recognised.

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 33 units of competency, including 14 core and 19 speciality units.

    Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
