    Build the skills to lead safe and enjoyable group water workouts. Learn first aid, water rescue and workplace safety. Take your first step into the fitness industry or enhance your skills as an aqua exercise instructor.

    Learning outcomes

    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • plan and lead water-based group exercise classes

    • use your knowledge of the human body to design safe and effective exercises

    • perform water rescues

    • provide first aid

    • follow work health and safety requirements.

    Gain practical experience and develop specialist skills that give you an advantage in the job market.

    • A Statement of Attainment in Aqua Exercise Instruction.

    • Credit towards the Certificate III in Fitness.

    • A pathway to further study in fitness and personal training.

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • the ability to swim freestyle or another stroke for at least 50 metres

    • the ability to tread water for at least one minute

    • a passion for sport, wellness and teaching others

    • an interest in working with people and providing customer service

    • appropriate swimwear, sunscreen and hat

    • access to a computer with a reliable internet connection

    • the ability to organise your own transport from your TAFE NSW campus to a local pool.
