    Australian Apprenticeships training can be on-the-job, off-the-job or a combination of both. TAFE NSW will negotiate your attendance and study pattern with you and your employer.

    Materials needed

    To complete this course, the following materials are required:

    • Students will need their own tools of the trade which will vary from student to student and employment.

      • You will need to purchase specialist equipment in order to develop your skills outside of scheduled class times. Detailed Student Equipment Lists will be provided at the orientation session or first day of class, along with suggested industry suppliers.
      • The cost for specialist equipment for this course is approximately $500 which you will retain on completion of your training. Students are also required to wear closed in protective footwear and plain black pants or black skirt below the knee.

      • signed up with an Apprentice Network Provider and have a Training Plan Proposal
      • seeking to gain skills and knowledge to become a qualified Barber after successful completion
    Units

    Units taught in this course

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Barbering qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 26 units of competency, including 21 core and 5 speciality units.

    Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

    Course delivery

    Combination study

    Learn through a combination of on-campus classroom, virtual classroom, online, and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled face-to-face or virtual classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

    Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
