SCHOOLS - Testimonials - 3 Columns v2

"TAFE NSW was the logical choice for me. I craved that hands-on experience, and it was also a more affordable way to study."

By combining real-world training and higher education, Jake has found a pathway to success.

Jake knew he had a passion for computers, so his choice was where to study. He completed a Certificate III to an Advanced Diploma in IT Networking.

As part of TAFE NSW's unique IT Pathways Program with Charles Sturt University, Jake will graduate with a Bachelor of IT Networking qualification. The fully integrated program is so well respected within the industry, many students receive job offers while still studying.

"We're putting the designs into practice – we build the hardware, rather than just focus on how you build it. A lot of people learn better that way. I certainly did."

Jake, Bachelor of IT Networking student.

In his role as a career advisor, Tom has helped hundreds of high school students to explore the range of available post-school possibilities.

“TAFE NSW opens up avenues that students might not have even thought of. Not knowing what you want to do in life is normal in Year 12. It’s not necessarily a bad thing.”

He reassures his students that they’re not alone. That nearly everyone goes through a period where they doubt their decisions.

“Through life there are many changes; we decide what we want to do, we change our mind, or we want to advance our career- TAFE NSW gives us options. At TAFE NSW you can do certificates, diplomas - all sorts of things and in different areas. TAFE NSW is where to go.”

Tom, career advisor.

Tracey wanted what was best for her daughter. She knew, like many parents of school leavers, that she was a big influence in helping her daughter to decide her future. She wanted to help her choose something that was truly going to make her happy.

The family looked hard for the right design degree that would suit their daughter. “We came to TAFE NSW Design Centre Enmore and straight away she was comfortable. It’s a lot more hands on than the courses at uni. There’s an emphasis on practical skills. It helps with job preparedness.”

Within weeks of starting her Bachelor of Design at TAFE NSW, Emma knew she had made the right choice. “It was easier for her to make friends because the group sizes were much smaller.” The smaller size also meant Emma had direct access to teachers that were still working in the field.

Tracey, parent.
