Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a fully subsidised place you must meet Smart and Skilled eligibility guidelines which are:
- live or work in NSW
- be an Australian Citizen, a permanent resident, a New Zealand citizen, or a humanitarian visa holder
- have left school
AND meet one of the following criteria:
- aged from 17 to 24 inclusive (regardless of employment status and including Year 12 School leavers)^, or
- in receipt of a Commonwealth Government benefit, or
- an unemployed person, or
- people expected to become unemployed
^ If you are aged over 35 years you could be eligible for the Mature Age Workers Scholarship.
TAFE NSW also has a range of other Government programs available.

Yes. Summer Skills are a range of online short courses and face to face short courses aimed at giving school leavers the skills they need to find work. We’ve put together several units to provide a Statement of Attainment in particular industry areas, including Agribusiness, Construction Industries, Health, Business, Creative Experiences and Industry 4.0.
If you left school in 2020, or are aged 17-20 and have already left school, then you qualify for the Summer Skills short courses.
Summer skills is focussed on getting jobs for school leavers. Summer Skills are made up of units drawn from full qualifications, meaning you’ll learn skills that are highly valued by employers.
The truth about all short courses online is, you don't have to be a computer whiz to succeed in online learning. However you should be comfortable typing, using the internet and email, chatting to your teachers or others online, reading course content online, using common software and performing other basic tasks. Once you enrol, you will receive an email with your login details for the TAFE Digital Campus, simply follow the prompts to get started. There’s no fixed class timetable so you can enjoy flexible learning to fit your lifestyle, and study at times that suit you.
