Non-apprenticeship pathways for trade qualifications let you turn your industry skills into a recognised qualification. You can do this through recognition of prior learning (RPL) and any gap training.
You must be at least 21 years of age. Show this with photo ID.
You must have at least 2 years of work experience in this trade. Show this with your resume and/or letters from employers.
You must be currently in the industry, (shown by a letter from your employer) or have worked in the industry in the past 5 years (shown by your resume and/or letters from employers).

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
a good level of fitness for tasks like lifting parts and materials
confidence working at heights and in small spaces
some experience in using tools and equipment
an interest in for cars, boats or bikes
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Automotive and Marine Trimming Technology qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 30 units of competency, including 12 core and 18 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
