    Assessments

    Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

    • Knowledge assessments: short answer, multiple-choice questions.

    • Skills assessments: case studies.

    • Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation.

    • Submission of a logbook.

    Work placement

    Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

    • Complete a total of 36 complete service periods in an operational hospitality environment on your TAFE NSW campus

    Depending upon your campus’s capacity to facilitate all 36 service periods, you may need to complete remaining service periods through:

    • returning to campus to finish service periods (which may extend your course) or

    • paid work, such as traineeships or part-time jobs within the industry or

    • unpaid work experience.

    To complete this course, the following materials are required:

    • Hospitality Uniform consisting of black tailored pants or skirt, long sleeved black shirt and enclosed shoes approximately: $90.00

    • Name badge: $5.00

    • Licensing Units which must be paid at enrolment:

    • RSA Card @ $103.00

    • RCG Card $49.00

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Hospitality qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 units of competency, including 6 core and 9 speciality units.
