OVERVIEW

This professional qualification in Data Engineering is a three year degree which will give you the skills you need to build data systems, architecture and platforms to support big data solutions.

DEGREE OFFERS

Big data is a fast evolving field in business and commerce and there is a growing demand for professionals with the expertise to build information technology (IT) solutions to manage big data.

You will learn about IT systems, concepts and methodologies, and develop a comprehensive knowledge of networking, technology and systems, data security and infrastructure engineering. As well as studying theory, you will develop analytical and critical evaluation skills that you will apply to practical projects and simulated workplaces.

When you complete this course you will be able to work in a range of roles related to managing the security of big data.

Practical Experience

The degree enables students to learn using a practical hands-on approach and to develop skills such as communication, problem solving and critical thinking,
resulting in well-trained, analytical IT specialists. Presentations and case studies by leading professional experts allow students to develop tools and techniques for managing big data and other IT challenges facing the business world today.

The Bachelor of Information Technology (Data Engineering) prepares students to sit for recognised industry certifications (such as Cisco, CCNA & AWS).

INTERNATIONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Academic Requirements:

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • A pass in Year 12 Mathematics or equivalent

English Language Requirements:
  • Academic IELTS 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.0 or equivalent

STUDY PATHWAYS

Upon successful completion of the Higher Education Diploma of Information Technology:

  • Graduates will receive 1 Year credit towards the Bachelor of Information Technology (Data Engineering)
  • These credits will reduce the Bachelor of Information Technology (Data Engineering) to a 2 Year duration

STUDY PACKAGES

Plan your study around your life with a TAFE NSW study package. Our study packages allow for multiple courses to be packaged together that can lead you to a TAFE NSW or an Australian University Bachelor Degree with credits. This gives you a one stop shop by completing your applications for the whole package through TAFE NSW allowing you to apply for one student Visa for the full duration of the package.

TAFE NSW allows for two or more courses to be packaged together leading to a TAFE NSW Bachelor Degree, either to meet the prerequisite requirements for a course or to plan your studies around your career goals. You can submit a single TAFE NSW application form and will be able to apply for one Student Visa for the full duration of the package.
