This qualification reflects the role of remedial massage therapists who work with clients presenting with soft tissue dysfunction, musculoskeletal imbalance or restrictions in range of motion (ROM). Practitioners may be self-employed or work within a larger health service. It covers the provision of remedial massage to clients with specific needs such as injury management, rehabilitation, palliative care, aged care and women and children.
You will acquire knowledge in the chemical, biological and biophysical aspects of massage, and in the philosophy, principles and practice of complementary health care to enable you to work safely and ethically with your clients, and in ways that allow you to establish and maintain your status as a health care professional in public or private employment.
Work Placement Requirements:
To achieve this qualification, all students must have completed at least 200 hours of clinic work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. This must include a minimum of 100 clients and is completed through the onsite clinics. If a student is working within the industry they can log a maximum of 50 hours offsite within a clinic setting with the remaining 150 hours to be completed within the onsite clinics.
Students will be required to complete a logbook for record of the work placement so they can practice their skills and embed the knowledge they have learned during the course.

COURSE STRUCTURE AND UNITS
To receive the Diploma of Remedial Massage students must complete all core units and, if available, a range of additional units.
