Certificate IV in Surveying

This qualification reflects the role of surveying technicians who work under supervision to support a surveying team. They perform a range of duties using surveying tools and equipment, including total stations and global navigation satellite systems (GNSS).

Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply in some States where cadastral and mining surveying must be undertaken under the supervision of a registered surveyor. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.
Students wanting to study the Certificate IV in Surveying (CPP40216) at TAFE NSW - Ultimo campus, must have completed the TAFE NSW Certificate III in Surveying and Spatial information Services (CPP30216).

Students who do not have a TAFE NSW - Certificate III in Surveying and Spatial Information Services, but who have an overseas qualification and at least 36 months of surveying work experience in Australia or overseas, may be able eligible to apply for the Certificate IV in Surveying. Your eligibility for enrolment in the Certificate IV in Surveying will be assessed through an interview or questionnaire.

    To receive the Certificate IV in Surveying students must complete all core units and, if available, a range of additional units.

    Note: Additional units contain compulsory and elective units which may vary between each semester and campus, and will depend on a number of considerations including the packaging rules for the qualification and demand for the unit.
