Wilcannia
TAFE NSW Wilcannia is in the far west of the state by the Darling River on the land of the Barkindji people. It’s rich history and significant cultural Aboriginal sites ground the Wilcannia campus as a meaningful destination. There is a deep connection with the land and way of living that defines Wilcannia’s remote rural character. TAFE NSW recognises and nurtures this and understands that these can be a powerful catalyst for growth. The contradiction of the harsh environment, paired with renewable energy production gives the area a dynamic point of interest, while the town's strength is in primary production and its emerging tourism industry.
Courses offered at the TAFE NSW Wilcannia campus are closely aligned to local job opportunities with the emphasis on tailoring programs to meet the needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Foundational education courses and practical training programs put the students in a great position to gain useful and employable skills.
