  • To successfully complete this course you will need:

    • to be an existing worker in the Community Services sector
    • to engage with connected learning which is where a teacher leads a ‘virtual’ classroom where students and teachers in different locations are connected to each other via web conferencing technology.
    • to attend these virtual classrooms and participate in learning and activities as if you were at TAFE.
    • to be available to attend the connected classrooms on the dates and times as per the timetable.
    • access to a computer or device, webcam and headset and access to the internet.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Counselling qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 17 units of competency, including 13 core and 4 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

Course delivery Virtual classroom, on campus

You will attend a TAFE NSW campus or Connected Learning Centre to connect with your teachers and other students in a virtual classroom where you will participate in learning activities via video or web conferencing technology. Much like a regular class, you will have scheduled times of attendance. Depending on what you are studying, your course may also include some online units or practice training though our network of Mobile Training Units.
