There are no assessments for this course. However, you’ll have the opportunity to create ceramic items and receive professional guidance from your teacher.

This training is not subsidised by Government funding. There are no fee exemptions, concessions or subsidies available for this course.
Payment of course fee must be made PRIOR to commencement of learning activity.
**ADDITIONAL RESOURCES**
You will need to provide the following resources which are retained on completion of the study: - Clay and tools are not included in the course fee. Clay is available for purchase from the Ceramics department @ $25 a bag. To acquire a clay voucher, please phone Customer Service 131601 to complete the purchase or attend the customer service desk at Gymea Campus. You must have a credit/debit card to use this facility. Please show your class teacher or department technical officer proof of purchase to redeem your clay.
The studios have a selection of tools to use if you don’t have any of your own. Advice about additional materials if needed will be communicated in your first-class orientation. Please note our studio has firm WHS Personal protective equipment (PPE) criteria which include closed shoes, no loose clothing or jewellery are to be worn.
Suggested items to bring include; an apron and dust mask if necessary. Other PPE can include hearing protective devices, such as earmuffs and/or earplugs, eye and face protection, such as safety glasses and face shields.

TIn this course students learn the foundations of ceramic studio art practice in a supportive and professional environment. Students explore wheelforming, design, mouldmaking and handforming skills. Students refine technical and conceptual skills through a process of experimentation and practice. Teachers will demonstrate a wide range of specific techniques and skills so that students can unlock their creativity with clay. Each term students specialise in the following areas;
• Term 1 - Handbuilding
• Term 2 - Wheelforming
• Term 3 - Slip Casting and Mould Making
• Term 4 - Experimental Ceramics
