Australian Apprenticeships training can be on-the-job, off-the-job or a combination of both. TAFE NSW will negotiate your attendance and study pattern with you and your employer.
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Knowledge assessments: short answer, extended response, multiple-choice questions, assignments, closed book exams
Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation

Portfolio of work
Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
There is no work placement requirement for this qualification. As an apprentice, you will gain your experience on-the-job with your employer.
If you are enrolling as a non-apprentice, you need to be in relevant employment or have access to appropriate simulated workplace environments in order to meet the course completion requirements.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 36 Units of competency, including 22 core and 14 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

The Myall Street campus also houses the Yarradamarra Centre for Aboriginal programs such as performing arts and languages.
