This course is currently scheduled on Monday 6.00pm to 8.00pm and Friday 9.00am to 10.00am, delivered via Microsoft Teams. Particpants attend from home using their own device.
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Knowledge assessments: short answer, research tasks
Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation, role playing using a fictional organisation or your own workplace as a basis
Simulated workplace projects: scenario-based problem solving
Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 10 Units of competency, including 5 core and 5 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
You will attend a TAFE NSW campus or Connected Learning Centre to connect with your teachers and other students in a virtual classroom where you will participate in learning activities via video or web conferencing technology. Much like a regular class, you will have scheduled times of attendance. Depending on what you are studying, your course may also include some online units or practice training though our network of Mobile Training Units.

As well as offering state-of-the-art facilities in welding, automotive and business administration, TAFE NSW Tumut is also home to the Forest Industry Training Centre, an institution that plays an integral role in providing diploma level education and training.
