Knowledge tasks: online quizzes, short answer questions, case studies, written tasks and research projects, matching and true or false activities
Practical tasks before starting work placement: interviews, role-plays, creative projects, presentations and practical demonstrations
Workplace assessment tasks: written tasks, reflective journals, verbal or written questioning, planning and implementing activities, practical demonstrations

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:
A minimum of 160 hours of work placement in a regulated Education and Care Service in Australia is required for this qualification. The work placement will be arranged by the TAFE NSW in partnership with the service and implemented within the student's program to enable consolidation, reflection, improvement and assessment to occur. Work placement is an opportunity to learn on the job and complete assessment requirements and often leads to employment opportunities. The Public Health ( COVID -19 Vaccination of Education and Care Workers) Order 2021 states that education and care workers are required to have received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or be issued with a medical contraindication certificate by 8 November 2021 to be able to undertake relevant work. This applies to students on work placement in an early education and care facility. If you are not vaccinated then we cannot assure you that this component of your course can be organized or fulfilled, which will impact your ability to successfully course complete. TAFENSW recognizes students reasons for not being vaccinated. This can be discussed privately with TAFE NSW career counsellors prior to enrolment.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 17 Units of competency, including 15 core and 2 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
