Knowledge tasks: online quizzes, short answer questions, case studies, written tasks and research projects, matching and true or false activities
Practical tasks before starting work placement: interviews, role-plays, creative projects, presentations and practical demonstrations
Workplace assessment tasks: written tasks, reflective journals, verbal or written questioning, planning and implementing activities, practical demonstrations

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

The Public Health ( COVID -19 Vaccination of Education and Care Workers) Order 2021 states that education and care workers are required to have received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or be issued with a medical contraindication certificate by 8 November 2021 to be able to undertake relevant work. This applies to students on work placement in an early education and care facility. If you are not vaccinated then we cannot assure you that this component of your course can be organised or fulfilled, which will impact your ability to successfully course complete. This course offering is designed for people who:
This 18 month course is a combination of virtual and face to face. It is best suited for a confident virtual student who is self motivated and can work independently to understand information and concepts. There is flexibility in your study timetable and the ability to organise your study around your lifestyle. This course can be fast tracked i.e. completed quicker then 18 months. You will work closely with teaching and support staff, meeting regularly in a virtual space. Your training and learning plan will be designed to suit your needs and your lifestyle, attending virtual classes on Thursday evenings on dates you select.
To be deemed ready for workplacement, you will need to show your skills and knowledge through participation in playsession, simulated face to face classes and/or strategic questioning. Please note playsession is only available at Ourimbah campus, simulated classes will be delivered at Ourimbah campus dependent on student enrolment numbers.
You will be required to attend a face to face first aid course at Ourimbah Campus one Saturday throughout your enrolment period.
You will require regular access to, and have the ability to use a computer and internet. This could either be your personal device or can be accessed at your local campus.
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 17 Units of competency, including 15 core and 2 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
