Non-apprenticeship pathways for trade-related qualifications allow you to have your industry skills assessed through recognition of prior learning (RPL) and undertake gap training to gain a trade qualification. To take this course as a non-apprenticeship, you must:
Be at least 21 years of age, as evidenced by photo identification
Have at least 2 years of work experience in this occupation or trade, as evidenced by employee records such as your resume and/or letters from your employers
Be currently employed in the relevant industry, as evidenced by a letter from your employer

To successfully complete this course:
As part of this course, you will be required to provide hair services on paying clients and may also need to provide clients for some of your practical classes and assessments. You need to also be prepared to have treatments done on yourself.
You must comply with Work Health & Safety requirements for classes, including wearing closed in protective footwear and clothing that is clean and professional for the industry.
Students need to attend all classes, complete all class and unsupervised activities, assessment activities, and teacher directed tasks.
Work Placement:
To meet the requirements of this course, learners should be employed in a hairdressing salon where they provide hair services on clients.
Work placement is designed to enrich the learning, compliment the formal training and enable an easier transition into the industry once the course is completed.
Learners will also be provided with access to clinic sessions at the TAFE campus Hairdressing facility, providing services on paying clients.
Clinic sessions can be completed as work placement with a host employer that has been approved by the teaching section.
