This course is currently scheduled on Wednesday with Day classes with Friday workshops 2-3 times per term. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Skills assessment: role play scenario, presentation, practical, observation including workplace assessments
Knowledge assessment: multiple choice, true or false, short answer questions
Case study: case study scenario, reflection
Portfolio: samples of work in a workplace environment

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:
You will need to complete 120 hrs of supervised workplace experience, in a residential aged care environment. Teachers will organise student work placement and match students to relevant organisations.

Students have the opportunity to purchase the textbook "Individual Support in Australia" online at http://itsashop.org.au/. This will also be available to borrow through your campus library. While on work placement students will need a white polo shirt, navy pants and enclosed shoes ITSA Online Shop, providing services to students across NSW TAFE campuses.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Ageing Support qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 18 Units of competency, including 15 core and 3 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
